The amount of greenhouse gases emitted divided by the amount of electricity produced.

Social Cost of Carbon

The net present value of the economic loss or gain created by the release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Carbon Tax

A cost paid proportional to the amount of carbon dioxide released by an individual or organization.

Cost of Avoided Carbon

The levelized cost of a carbon-avoiding technology or program divided by the amount of carbon saved during that period (usually annual).

  • Identify stakeholders concerned about these costs
  • Identify the interests of those stakeholders
  • Identify policies they might support based on their interests
