Computation of UA Value

We can estimate the effective UA value of a building by recording the thermal energy use for different temperature differences.

For a building in an area requiring heating, we can plot the energy used for heating over a period on the y-axis against the average temperature difference between the interior and exterior over that period on the x-axis.

The slope of the line will be the UA value.
