Electrical Energy
We often want to compute the electrical energy delivered but we don’t have a simple way to directly measure energy. We do have ways to measure currents and voltages and these can be used to compute power and energy.
- We compute the power at regular intervals
- These data are called a time series
- If we plot this time series with power on the y-axis and time on the x-axis, we can construct boxes with energy as the area
- Adding up these areas gives us the energy
